Midi

Midi is a character I've made for a game project during school called Beat Born. The character was sculpted in Zbrush and retopologized in Maya. Baked and textured in Substance Painter and rendered in Unreal Engine 4.

A really fun game project made in Unity with classmates and friends where it's all about moving with the music and defending the last power source of humanity from hordes of robots. Play in rhythm with the music to build sync power! This power is used to unleash devastating attacks designed to wipe out all robots in one fell swoop. Adapt your play style depending on the enemy, string together combos suited to the situation and enjoy an adaptive soundtrack that reacts to your actions!

For the rings beneath her I made a three ringed mask that exports through three different channels. Every ring has it's own bump offset value with it's own color. This means that the height and position of each ring is changeable.

A blurred mask with a bump offset is combined with the emissive color to create an effect that makes the armor fade out in strength towards the edges. The bump also provides the feeling that the energy surges from within her body.
